SUMMARY:Tour of MassDOT RMS (Research and Materials Section) Laboratory
DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by the Construction Institute Boston ChapterSpeakers:\nJason Robertson\, Director of Research and Materials\, MassDOT\nBryan Engstrom\, Deputy Director of Research and Materials\, MassDOTThe MassDOT Research and Materials Section (RMS) tests the quality of materials and products used on MassDOT construction projects. RMS has 7 labs: Soil/Aggregate\, Concrete\, Cement\, Physical (steel/block/brick)\, Asphalt Mixture\, Binder\, and Chemical. During the tour\, we will review the range of construction materials these laboratories evaluate\, and the performance-based tests used to measure properties tied to durability\, strength\, and long-term field performance. We will then discuss how meeting established performance criteria supports material acceptance decisions\, MassDOT's quality assurance program\, and Independent Assurance verification for project-produced materials\, ensuring construction processes and materials placed in the field meet MassDOT standards. There will be a networking social hour to follow the tour at Central House Tavern in Westborough.\nRegistration Deadline: Friday\, March 6\, 2026Information/Registration: Register to attend this meeting and pay by credit card or request an invoice by clicking Register.
